Commercial buildings are built to specific standards for safety, especially with regard to fire safety. Interior walls have a "firestopping" rating- that is, they are rated by the amount of time it would take a fire burning on one side of a wall to break through to the other side. You can imagine how important this is, especially in the case hospitals or other public buildings.  The
problem is, when a part of the wall is cut away - for instance, to
pass air conditioning ducts, cable runs or pipes., the broken wall's
firestopping rating is reduced dramatically. STI builds engineered
firestopping systems which solve that problem, in some cases actually
improving the firestopping rating of the original wall.These highly effective systems are difficult to show in-place, where the application would be most easily understood by a potential customer. To help understand how these applications work and how they are installed, we created this 3D cutaway illustration featuring all the current STI products in place. The illustration is both a useful sales tool as well as an effective teaching aid.
